Solving New York’s Parking Challenges

Seventy-eight percent of Manhattan households don’t own a car, but that doesn’t mean New York City is exempt from parking problems; in fact, a recent study found drivers in one area cruise about a third of a mile when looking for parking.

The New York Times yesterday took on the issue and considered several possible fixes, including on-street meters and launching a parking permit district program. Complete with statistics and graphics, the article espouses many solutions IPI members have been talking about for years.
