Michigan Parking Association

As the lyric's to Bob Dylan's song The Time They are a Changing was the theme topic as well for the Michigan Parking Associations fall conference held in the State's Capitol city of Lansing.

So how does this all relate to your business?  Simple.  Just about everyone is going through really tough times right now.  The economy and our uncertain future may have shaken your company's foundation.  The old rules just don't seem to work or apply anymore.  We need to embrace changes-change is good!  Cutting of staff, doing more with less seems to be everyone's challenge, to survive we must manage.

Topics on going green, removing of staff, going automated, energy efficiency, the high cost of FREE parking, who's in charge and you're an expert in our parking system if you have a drivers license were all discussed by guest speakers and our members  at the 1 ½  day conference.  It seems like tough times is the time to fix things, use these challenging times to implement positive changes.

The MPA and the newly elected board wish everyone a joyful holiday season and prosperous new year.

Pacific Intermountain Parking and Transportation Association

PIPTA in 2011 Save the Date!  Note Change in Location!

Transportation issues increasingly seem at the heart of many of the challenges we face at universities, municipalities, hospitals, businesses, planning organizations and at home. How we get from one place to another and how much time and money it costs and the impact on the environment are central to many of our decisions and for many places and people where we might be headed in terms of transportation resources is not all that clear. The good news in all of this uncertainty is that there is an entire industry devoted to helping people get from one place to the next, professionals who care about their communities and our world.

Transportation demand management experts, parking professionals, transit providers, planners, engineers, economic development specialists and more are working to make our transportation system more responsive to our needs and aspirations for the future.

In these exciting times, coming together to discuss challenges and opportunities is key to making continued progress in transportation. It is with this as a backdrop that we proudly announce and invite you to attend the 2011 Pacific Intermountain Parking and Transportation Association (PIPTA) Conference.

July 17- 19, 2011
The Hilton Hotel
Vancouver, Washington

Please note that the conference was previously announced to be located in Eugene, Oregon.  However, the PIPTA Board made a strategic choice to relocate the conference to this new location to make it more financially and geographically accessible to members.  PIPTA members are THE reason there is a PIPTA!

• Join in stimulating discussions regarding relevant and critical issues facing the transportation industry today
• View and learn about the latest technology from industry vendors
• Network with colleagues
• Gain advanced understanding, insights and best practices from industry experts and learn how to apply it in your organization
