CPPA held its quarterly Board of Directors meeting in Monterey, California. Monterey will be the location of CPPA's 2013 Annual Conference.
The Board of Directors had a full day's agenda focusing on planning regional training throughout the state, finalizing our 2010 Conference program and working on the various legal issues facing parking agencies throughout the state. We are very fortunate to have such a hard working board that is spread throughout State of California.
Our Educational Seminar held in Orlando, was a huge success! Fifty attendees were captivated for 8 hours by speakers, John Fagan (T2 Systems), Jim Corbett (City of Tampa), Jeff Beatty (First Observer), and Chester Escobar (Miami Parking Authority). Certificates of Participation were presented by First Observer and Florida Parking Association. All attendee comments were very positive and all look forward to the next one.
NOW, on to our 31st Annual Conference and Tradeshow, December 1 - 3, 2010, at the Daytona Beach Hilton Resort. Our theme is "Back to Basics", and our hotel and conference registration costs are reflective of past years. The Board is finalizing the program, which includes a "Training the Trainer" session by First Observer. (We have an application for potential presenters on our website (www.flparking.org) conference tab due to Board by October 1). A golf tournament will be held at the LPGA International course, and our 'infamous" mini-golf tourney is at the Daytona Lagoon Waterpark & Arcade. Our closing event is an evening of fun at Daytona Lagoon Waterpark which includes go-carts, water, arcade games, etc. - the park is totally FPA's for the evening (and it is directly across street from the hotel).
Our Excellence in Projects Awards program has been upgraded to better reflect the outstanding projects, and to also give the winners additional accolades. The awards application/criteria will be available on the website and winners presented at the conference.
We will have conference/attendee/exhibitor/sponsor information posted on our website during the first week of September. Early bird specials! Y'all come to see us!

The New England Parking Council (NEPC) held its second annual one day Municipal Forum Wednesday, August 11th in New Haven, CT. Thank you to Sammy Parry of the New Haven Parking Authority for helping us plan the event! We had room for 50 people and sold out! The food was good, the presenters were great, and the price was right - free to NEPC members - your dues go far at NEPC! The Texas Parking Association 2010 Roundtable and Networking Session was held on July 26, 2010 at Texas A & M University Corpus Christi. We would like to thank Liliana Rambo, CAPP, and Kimberly Phelon with the Parking Management Division Administration and Regulatory Affairs Dept. for City of Houston, for all their work in setting up this Roundtable, registering members and providing a great session of information and networking for all who were able to attend.
These series are a great opportunity for Universities, Municipalities, Airports and Hospital parking professionals to network free of charge plus equip themselves with additional educational material that is shared by industry professionals.
