Two new categories recognize best in surface parking
and also sustainable design
Fredericksburg, VA -- Entries are now being accepted for the International Parking Institute's 30th Annual Awards of Excellence Competition recognizing outstanding achievement in parking facility design and architecture. The competition is regarded as the highest award in the parking profession.
The complete Awards of Excellence Entry Packet is now available at www.parking.org/aoe.
Past winners have included notable parking garages in cities, retail complexes, corporate headquarters, airports, commercial buildings, public institutions, universities, sports complexes, among others. The awards are open to public agencies, jurisdictions, institutions, organizations or corporations which own parking facilities completed or renovated since January 1, 2009.
Awards will be presented at the International Parking Institute Conference & Expo in Phoenix, Ariz., June 10-13, 2012.
The top award honors architectural achievement. Two new
categories have been added to honor sustainable parking and
transportation design excellence and noteworthy design and
implementation of a surface parking lot. The competition offers
seven categories, with a top winner and award of merit possible, in
each:
I. Best design of a parking facility with fewer than 800
spaces
II. Best design of a parking facility with 800 or more
spaces
III. Best design/implementation of a surface parking lot
IV. Best innovation in a parking operation/program, including
innovation that involves
making existing parking, facilities or programs
more sustainable
V. Best parking facility rehabilitation or restoration
VI. Award for newly-built sustainable
parking/transportation design excellence
VII. Award of Architectural Achievement
Entries may be submitted online no later than Friday, December 16,
2011. Entry fees, rules, regulations and judging criteria are
outlined in the official entry brochure at www.parking.org/aoe.
