Michael Klein, CAPP

Mr. Klein is the Authority's Executive Director, with 29 years service.  He has served university, municipal, hospital, and consulting industry segments and is experienced with parking access revenue control systems for on and off-street garages and lots, permit systems, visitor lots, meters, valet, special event parking, enforcement, adjudication, and collections.

Mr. Klein has administered transportation, motor pools, fleet maintenance, and grounds (snow!) functions.  Responsibilities have included route service, demand responsive "Point 2 Point" service, charters, plus ancillary modes such as pedestrian, bicycle, intermodal connections with car/bus/bike/rail, and carpooling.  Beyond focusing on strategic planning, new initiatives, automation, e-Business, marketing and budgeting, Klein provides leadership and creates a culture that is motivating and supportive of staff to efficiently and effectively fulfill the institutional mission while providing a positive work environment.

Mr. Klein contributes articles in trade magazines and books, presents for parking and transportation conferences.  Memberships: President, New York State Parking Association; Past President, Carolina's Parking Association; Past Vice-President, National Parking Association; Charter Member, Suffolk County Transportation Advisory Board; former Association for Commuter Transportation Board Member; long term member of IPI Advisory Council (formerly known as the Board of Advisors); and, Vice President of Literacy Volunteers of America-Mohawk/Hudson.
