Seeing and Being Seen in Japan: It’s All about the Parking Lot

If you’ve got it, flaunt it, and that’s exactly what happens in what news reports have called “the craziest parking lot in Japan”—definitely the place to see and be seen if you’re the proud owner of a luxury vehicle.

The Daikoku Futo parking lot lights up at night, when car enthusiasts flock to park their cars, grab a bite at one of several restaurants, and see who else shows up—including a line of “sound vans” pumping tunes into the evening air. It is the center of Japanese car culture and one of the coolest uses for a parking lot we’ve ever seen.
