Vertical Expansion of St. Augustine Center Parking Garage at Villanova University
Before Villanova University could embark on a series of large capital projects to increase student housing and create a new performing arts center, the issue of parking needed to be addressed. The Performing Arts Center and an adjacent 1,300-space garage would be built on the site of the Pike Parking Lot. To make up for that loss, planners decided to add two new parking levels to the existing two-level St. Augustine Center Parking Garage, expanding its capacity from 270 to 493 spaces. Once completed, they would develop the Lancaster Avenue parking lots into a large student housing project. All projects had to align with the master plan, blend harmoniously with the existing architecture, not cause disruption to campus life, and ensure sufficient parking throughout the process.
